Saying Goodbye to Fun in the Sun and Saying Hello to That Back to School Glow

During the summer it is easy for parents and children to lose track of time. With schedules having to be rearranged and other activities incorporated into the weekly happens, the end of summer will sneak up and leave you wondering how you will be able to get the kids prepped for going back to school. There are things you can do throughout the summer that will ensure that getting them ready to go back will be a breeze once the summer ends.

Look for Shopping Deals Throughout the Summer

Make school shopping easy on you. There will be times when your young one will want to go to the mall or need something for summer fun, use this as an opportunity to pick up a few school clothing or supplies. You can find a girls or boys school uniform at many of the big-name stores. Some schools do not specify one outfit as a uniform, they only make a requirement of the type of clothes and colors that are allowed. This makes finding summer deals easier and more fun. School shopping does not have to be done all at one time, it can be spread throughout the summer. After all, some of the best deals will be out before school shopping starts.

Start a Family Book Club

Many kids will use summer as an escape from reading and writing, or just use it as extra gaming and computer time. While is part of the fun of summer, learning should not stop while they are out of school. Parents need a way to get the kids to want to be involved in reading while they are out of school. This will help them be more emotional ready when it is time to prep for going back to school. They will not be forced to use skills that have been put on hold all summer, so they will be more ready for the learning process. One way that you can achieve this is to start a family book club. Family members will decide on a list of books that will be read over the summer and a time to discuss the books each week. If there is a child that is too young to participate in the reading, then an older child or parent can read the selection to them or they can modify the selection of the younger child to fit their needs. This can be a fun family activity to keep kids mentally prepared for learning.

Keep an Eating Routine with the Kids

One of the most difficult things about getting ready to go back to school is adjusting eating habits for more routine meals. During the summer kids will eat and go and will snack much more. This can make getting back in routine hard because they are not eating on a schedule and many times they are not eating as healthy. To get kids ready to go back to school, parents need to keep their eating habits as close to normal as possible throughout the summer. Buy healthy snacks and have a set meal time for the kids. This way when they go back to school a routine eating pattern will not be one of the adjustments they must make.
