If you are reading this article chances are it is because you want to become an A-list mom blogger, so let’s get right to the point, shall we? If you are going to become an A-List mom blogger there are simple steps you need to take in order to realize your dream. It’s not going to be easy, but it is doable if you put your mind to it.
Attitude: To be good at anything in life you have to have the right attitude. In order to become an A-list mom blogger you must be willing to work hard, create lasting relationships with fellow bloggers, corporations and pubicists, and be loyal and committed to your audience. Period. There's no way around it.
Your Blog’s Design: If you do not know how to design a blog, then we recommend that you hire a designer to do it for you. First impressions do count and it’s no different when it comes to blogs. If you want to be a well-known, highly regarded mom blogger your blog needs to be attractive and easy to read. Navigation should be simple and sidebars should be less cluttered. Surprisingly, blog designers typically charge very reasonable prices so this is a definite cost that will reward you in the future.
Advertise or Guest Post: Starting out with a relatively brand-new blog or trying to up its popularity can be difficult, so you may want to consider advertising on other mom blogs or sites in order to gain extra traffic and achieve brand awareness. Also consider guest posting on blogs that you admire, but keep this to a minimum. You don't want to spread your guest posts too wide.
Keep in mind that click through rates are generally low in banner ad campaigns so if you do advertise don’t expect to see your traffic stats spike greatly. Advertising, however, is a great way to get your blog in front of other moms and publicists, so be sure to use ad campaigns more for brand awareness than trying to double your traffic.
Join the Proper Circles: In the blogging world, as in other professions, becoming an A-list blogger is all about who you know. That’s why it is important to network in person as much as possible. Conferences are vital to a mom blogger’s success because talking face-to-face with others still goes a long way in making memorable impressions, even in this largely digital world in which we live. Here's a quick tip: Make sure to buy business cards that show your real name, blog name, blog URL, web site address (if any), email address, and Twitter URL.
Also, here's a little-known trick to get PR companies to contact you directly. Be warned, however. If you don't think you can handle the volume of PR pitches don't sign up. Enter your blog into the Cision database and if approved, they will add you to their growing list of mom blogger media clients. In fact, Cision has written a white paper on how to work with mom bloggers for PR professionals, so they have a vested interest in working with you as a client, especially if you have a great blog.
Consistency and Great Writing: Even if you utilize each of the aforementioned tips you still will not be an A-list mom blogger if you do not update your blog on a consistent basis and if your writing is atrocious. The backbone of any good blog is always going to be good writing so make certain that you spend a great deal of time spell checking and ensuring that your grammar is up to snuff. Also, work on honing your storytelling craft. Never forget: it's all about the writing.
Grow Your Social Followings: As upsetting as this might be to admit, your social following numbers are important to how people perceive you as an A-List blogger.
