Top 5 Freelance Jobs for Stay-at-Home Moms

With the development of information technologies, finding a job online is now easier than ever. Mothers already work a lot, but a 9 to 5 shift can be very problematic for anyone who has kids, especially if they’re young. So, freelancing is practically a dream come true for any mom because it allows her to organize her time the way she likes. There’s a multitude of options out there for anyone, and while that’s great, it can also present a problem. How do we know if we can do it? How do we know where to start? Luckily, almost anyone can get into freelancing, you just need to find something that suits you. If you aren’t even sure what’s out there, here are a few things you can try.

Are you a talented writer? Then please, don’t let that skill go to waste. There are countless writing jobs out there, you just have to find something that goes well with your skills and interests. Content writing is a form of writing that provides specialized content for websites. You will start out slow, but as you find more clients, the cash flow will increase. Depending on how much time you put into it, you could start earning a good pay check pretty quickly. You will get the impulse to take on any random subject, but that’s not a good idea. Stick to the things you know, pick a niche, write about that and become an expert in it. It will work much better than trying to spread yourself too thin. You could also contact your favourite magazine and sell them articles, or start writing a book. Do you have any ideas for a novel that you always wanted to put down on paper? Here’s your chance, because publishing an e-book is easy and inexpensive, and it could lead you to more serious publishing later on.

Online surveys

This is one of the quickest ways to make money online and it requires absolutely no skill at all. It’s very easy, because all you need to do is make an account on one of the survey sites and wait for them to send you a survey to fill in. You can earn either cash or gift cards for your favourite sites, like Amazon. This is an excellent way to earn some pocket money without putting in too much effort.

Teaching and tutoring

Contact your local high schools and elementary schools and offer your services as a tutor. If you have a degree, there’s bound to be work, but if you don’t, there are still options. There are plenty of sites online where you can teach English or other languages to foreigners, so if you have a knack for helping people understand a subject, use it. If you have any enviable skill, there will always be people who will want to learn it, so becoming a freelance tutor is a good option for anyone who enjoys teaching.

Data entry

Another job that requires no experience, and is easy to do once you get a hang of it. This job consists of translating information into electronic forms, so you will need some basic skills with computers and typing. Companies will need you to organize and update data, scan documents and check them for accuracy, and do other clerical duties. You can do it from home, and if you’re fast you can earn a good paycheck.

Selling crafts online

Hand crafted jewellery, paintings, knitted clothes, embroidery, wooden figurines, there are so many things that you can sell online. If you enjoy being creative, this is the perfect opportunity for you. If you aren’t that crafty yet, you could learn how to make various things and turn a very fun hobby into something profitable. Sell on places like Etsy and eBay, and if you end up enjoying it, no one’s stopping you from developing it into a small, profitable business of your own.

There are plenty of options for stay at home moms to find work, and most of it can be done from the comfort of your own home, on your terms. The key skill to freelancing is having good organizational skills, so make sure to have a plan before you start.
