It is the end of summer and every parent knows what that means! That's right; its time for your kids to go back to school. It also means it is time to shop for those must have items that every kid needs to make it through the school year! Here are a few of the must have items to include on your list as you go out the door to go shopping for their back to school items.
You might not think that buying something for your home would be part of the back to school shopping trip, but if your child is one who forgets to give you important paperwork then a home organizer is right for you. Purchase a paper file type organizer and put it where it is accessible and visible in a high traffic area. This could be the kitchen counter or right on a table near the entry way. This way the child sees it, can reach it and will remember to give you all their important paperwork.
Most kids are allowed to bring a bottle of water to school with them and buying them a reusable water bottle will save time and money as well as protect the environment. Consider a water bottle instead of sending them off to school with a plastic water bottle every day. Just make sure to check the school's website regarding the types of water bottles they are allowed to bring with them. Often times it must be clear so that staff can see it is just water they have in it.
No matter what age your child is, a backpack is essential for every student. You can purchase them a new one or recycle the old one from last year if it is still in decent shape. However, most kids will want a new one to start off the school year. Decide what best fits your budget and make the decision that is right for them and you.
Some school districts, even public school districts, require your child wear a uniform. There are a number of sites on the internet to order both girls and boys school uniform online. If the uniform requirements aren't too strict, you can often purchase school uniforms from some everyday apparel stores you visit on a regular basis. Again, be sure to check the school website to determine the specifics of the uniforms such as colors and styles. Be sure to only buy what you need if you actually need to purchase from a uniform shop as they can be expensive. Also, you can save a few dollars if you plan carefully and only buy what they need.
Books for Reference
Another great thing to have on hand is the most updated version of reference books. Be sure to pick them up a new copy of a dictionary and thesaurus. This will help them when they are researching terms or writing those reports.
These are just a few of the items that your child will need to start off the school year on the right foot. Be sure to add in some fun things as well such as scented markers, colored pens and anything else that might show them school can be fun as well as keep them organized. School shopping doesn't have to feel like a chore and be boring!
