Where is the best place to write? If you’re an author or aspiring author, you’ve no doubt been asked this question, often by colleagues. The answer isn’t that simple. It’s very much a personal choice based on where the writer is the most comfortable and productive.
The internet is full of advice on where an author should write. These articles suggest authors and freelance writers get out of the home office. While “getting out” does wonders to the psyche – especially if you’re inside most of the time and need some vitamin D – many of the suggestions don’t seem realistic.
Places such as coffee shops, parks, museums, aquariums, zoos, malls, bus or train stations, and inside various modes of transportation are often listed. The problem is these locations are riddled with distractions, everything from traffic to loud conversations to screaming children.
Only the library seems like a reasonable suggestion, especially if research is your task.
